Who is afraid of $5 or Less — and why?

We had a location. We negotiated the lease. We were preparing to move forward.

Then the owners decided they no longer wanted us as tenants.

They have every right to decide who they lease their property to. We understand that.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the concept. Maybe it does. But after repeatedly running into walls while trying to create a store built around one simple idea — that someone with only $5 in their pocket should still be able to afford something — we think the question is worth asking.

We aren't asking for free rent. We just want the opportunity to open the doors and let the community decide whether $5 or Less belongs here.

Who is afraid of $5 or Less?

And perhaps more importantly — why?

These materials were prepared for our planned opening/event at the location we expected to occupy. The lease did not ultimately proceed, and $5 or Less is not operating at this address.
