Something eerily similar actually happened.
In December 1900, three lighthouse keepers disappeared from the Flannan Isles Lighthouse off Scotland. They were never found.
Stonex later took that century-old mystery and transformed it into The Lamplighters.
Sometimes fiction doesn't have to invent the mystery.
Real life already did.
